The coronavirus has surely been turning fatal taking toll on so many innocent people. And this is not just happening in India but also massively outside. This is almost like punishing them by keeping them sealed indoors & pumping in the spirit of fear & insanity. Amidst all the confusion, Covid19 has a few positive effects as well.
We already see that the spread of novel coronavirus is extending, air and noise pollution are significantly reducing. Also, some people are staying indoors to keep away from unwanted infection. We’ve also been lucky to spot the rarest migratory birds and endangered species of animals roaming on the streets & making headlines. Now let’s have a look at the positive side of this virus in 5 brief pointers.
Positive Side of this Corona-Virus
It’s an Opportunity Pool for our Economy
From the times, we’ve been battling coronavirus, RBI and government have joined hands & working as a single unit. From reducing taxes, increasing liquidity, offering forbearance to lenders to providing credit guarantees to SMEs with lower interest rates.
The Post-COVID-19 scene doesn’t look as bad as we imagined it to be. In union with a stimulus package of $100-120 billion, it is possible to rewind the purchasing power to the population. If India builds businesses on indigenous ideas then the recovery will be possible much sooner.
Falling Oil Prices
At the onset of April, the fuel retailers in Delhi sold around 17% less petrol and 25% less diesel as compared to March 2019.
After the announcement of nationwide lock-down, along with public transport, even personal vehicles on the roads have become a rare sight. This happened after the decision to contain the overall spread of the disease. And then came the dip of petrol & diesel prices by INR 4.55 and INR 4.70 per litre respectively in Mumbai.
The falling rates of crude oil will leave individuals with more liquid cash as compared to the year 2019. Though, centre & state are implementing heavy duty on fuels to make up for the past deficits.
Crime Rate has Dipped
Crime rates in Delhi and Gurugram have gone down in the last 1 month after the COVID-19 fear spread like wildfire.
Delhi has registered only petty cases including theft, robbery etc since March 2020. This reflects a sharp drop of nearly 42% in crime rate of Delhi. Also this granted a lot of mental peace to owners of personal and commercial vehicles during these turbulent times. A similar decrease has been witnessed other major cities like Kolkata, Chennai, and Mumbai.

Air is Cleaner and Environment is Greener
Gas emissions and pollution across the country has reduced significantly. A year back, Delhi was hopeless about fresh air and now “positively improved” quality of air. Delhi-NCR is currently enjoying the lowest air pollution level ever in the last 10 years at-least.
Encouraging Localism
Until now we were focusing on internationalization and globalization of businesses. But it’s changing totally now. Today the agenda is to promote your local brands & industries, thereby boosting the local community.
The complete lock-down has surely encouraged family-time and local-time among Indian citizens living in metros of the country.
We observe nature is healing itself while restricting people movement outdoors and vehicles retreat.
We’re hoping for this phase to pass as well! Meanwhile, house arrest during this period of lock-down can really help to manage the positive influence of COVID-19 pandemic & its global reach!
