The Government’s decision to extend the lockdown by another 2 weeks came into effect from 4th of May as India enters Covid19 Lockdown 3.0. The extension got live as India’s COVID-19 cases almost crossed 42,000 and deaths at 1,400. Districts identified as Orange Zone and Green Zone will experience some relaxation however, there’s no sign of change in the major economic centers such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai and Ahmedabad.
Below is an elaborate list of the do’s and don’ts during Covid 19 lockdown 3.0:
- Can you start working from office?
Yes, private offices can operate with upto 33% strength of employees
- Can you get non-essential items delivered such as makeup, clothes through ecommerce platforms?
No, if you’re in a red zone, and yes in an orange & green zone
- Can guests be invited for marriage ceremonies?
Yes but the number of people should be limited to 50
- Can an AC mechanic/carpenter/plumber come to your place?
Yes only if you’re residing in a non-containment area and your RWA allows (which decides on permitting outsider)
- Can you travel by Metro?
No, travel by Metro is prohibited until further notice in all the zones
- Can you travel by train to another state?
No, interstate trains services (except special trains to carry migrants) will remain suspended until further notice in all the zones.
- Will you be fined if you don’t wear a mask?
Yes, its compulsory to wear a mask in public areas
- Can you move around in cycle rickshaws/ auto rickshaws
No, if you’re in the red zone, its yes for orange and green zones
- Will schools/colleges open?
No, schools/colleges/ education institutions (coaching centers) will remain shut until further notice in the zones.
- Can kids go out to the park?
In all zones, persons above 65 years of age, pregnant women, and children below the age of 10 years will stay at home
- Can funeral rites be carried out?
Yes but funeral related gatherings cannot exceed 20 people
- Can I visit a barber shop/salon?
Yes in the orange & green zone, not in the red zones
- Will you be able to buy alcohol?
Yes this is open in the green & orange zones but not more than 5 persons can be present at one time at a liquor shop
- Will standalone coffee shops/restaurants be open?
No, hospitality services including hotels & restaurants are prohibited in all three zones
- Can you go for a run & cycling
Yes, but not in a group & between 7pm to 7 am
- Is domestic air travel allowed?
No, air travel is prohibited till 17th May as of now
- Can you go for a walk in the neighborhood?
Yes but not in a group and between 7pm to 7am
- Will you be able to buy petrol?
Yes, petrol pumps, LPG & oil agencies will continue to operate
- Will you get all medicines?
Yes, chemist & pharmacies will continue to remain open in all zones
- Can you book an Ola/Uber?
Yes only in Green & Orange zones. Taxis & cab aggregators will be permitted with 1 driver & 1 passenger only
- Can your house help and driver come for work?
Yes, but only if your RWA allows, which decides on outsiders entry
- Can you walk your dog in the colony?
Yes but not in a group & between 7pm to 7am.
- Can you order food for delivery?
Yes take away and home delivery services of restaurants are allowed.
- Can you go out in a group?
No, any congregation of more than 5 people is strictly prohibited and punishable by law.
- Will you be able to withdraw money?
Cashier & teller machines of banks (including ATMs) will stay open
- Can you take your car out?
Yes with at most 2 persons besides the driver
States & UTs, based on their individual assessment, and with the objective of discouraging the spread of COVID-19 may allow only selected activities from the new list of permitted activities. They are open to exercise restrictions if felt necessary.
No fresh permissions will be required from higher authorities for activities permitted to operate under the new Lockdown measures up to May 17th 2020.
