Members of the EPFO program now have relatively easy access to the EPF facility thanks to the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). You can now register an account, submit a nomination, and even check the progress of a claim online. Not only that, but you can also check the balance of your EPF account from the convenience of your house.
But you need to know your EPF Account number to access the details. If you don’t have this number, know as Universal Account Number (UAN), you won’t be able to log into your PF Account.
How to Know Your PF Account Number:
So, the first step is to identify your UAN number to monitor the balance of your EPF Account.
You can check for your UAN number in 4 easy ways:
- Check your salary slip for it
- Ask your workplace’s HR point-of-contact
- Use the UAN Portal to log in & check your PF related information
- Visit the regional EPFO Office to retrieve your PF account details
Once you have your UAN number, you can easily log in & monitor your PF account without hassle.
How to Check Your PF Account Balance:
The way things are done now is very different from how they used to be. Before, employees had to wait until the end of the fiscal year before receiving their EPF statement from their employers. You no longer need to do this, though. All you have to do is figure out how to check your EPF balance online in a way that’s best suited for you.
Method 1: Check Via EPFO Online Portal
The website for the EPFO is quite user-friendly and simple to use. You can check the balance of your EPF account directly on the EPFO website by following the below steps:
- Go to the EPFO website (epfindia.gov.in)
- Under the ‘Services’ page, select the ‘For Employees’ option
- In the “Services” section, choose “Member Passbook”
- After that, you will be taken to a different page. Use your UAN (Universal Account Number) and password to get into your account
- You can view your EPF passbook after logging in
Method 2: Check Via UMANG App
Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance, or UMANG, is an abbreviation for a single application that gives users access to a variety of e-government services. Naturally, this program also allows you to check the balance of your EPF account.
- From the app store, download the UMANG app to your phone
- Select ‘EPFO’ by clicking
- Choose the “Employee Centric Services” option
- Then select ‘View Passbook’ from the menu
- Your UAN and an OTP that will be issued to your registered mobile number must then be used to log in
- You can now see the passbook and balance of your EPF account
Method 3: Check Via SMS
When one of those days arises and you urgently need to check your EPF balance, you can do so by sending a short text message. Simply,
- Send a text message to 7738299899 using your registered mobile number
- The SMS should be formatted as follows: EPFOHO <UAN><LAN>
Method 4: Check Via Missed Call
To find out the information of your EPF account balance, you can also call 011-22901406 from your registered mobile phone number. Your registered number will thereafter receive an SMS with information about your EPF account balance.
You can only choose this option, though, if your UAN is connected to your PAN and other KYC information. Your employer can assist you if it is not. You can then use a missed call to this number to check your EPF balance while you’re on the go after that is complete.
In Conclusion
The basic truth is that there are numerous ways to check the balance of your EPF account online. You no longer have to wait until the end of the fiscal year to obtain a copy of your EPF statement. Just keep in mind to safeguard your login information so you can quickly log in and check your balance whenever necessary.
